"Media" used to mean "print media" like books and newspapers, but the world has grown. Today media can also mean radio, television and movies delivered to personal computers, tablets and cell phones. As the world's best selling book of all time the Bible continues to make headlines, both good and bad, across all forms of media. This week in the Bible and Media: The Bible is still welcome in Marriott brand hotels, even if it and it's teachings might become outlawed in the state of California by the "Must Stay Gay" bill that has already passed the California state senate.

The Marriott hotel, whose board is made up of members of the Mormon Church, will be placing The Bible and The Book of Mormon in 300,000 rooms of the Starwood brand. “There are many guests who are not digitally connected who appreciate having one or both of these books available,” Marriott told AP in a statement. “It’s a tradition appreciated by many, objected to by few.” At least the Bible is welcome in a few places in America...

it appears that the Bible is persona non grata in the state of California. We've brought news of California's controversial bill AB 2943 which outlaws any literature or teachings that state homosexuality can be overcome. This effectively outlaws Biblical teaching and possibly even the Bible itself. State Senator Ricardo Lara (D) stated:

"The issue with conversion [is] it already implies that there's something wrong with you; that you are somehow not normal. And it is those feelings that perpetuated the brutal murder of Gabriel Fernandez and Anthony Avalos by the hands of their own parents. Children that were tortured. Children that were ... burned with cigarettes because somehow they were not normal."

The senator's statement attempts to blame Biblical teaching for the murder of children, including the death of eight-year-old Fernandez in 2013 and ten-year-old Avalos in June of this year. California Family Council president Jonathan Keller believes this is an attack on therapists, pastors and all Christians who believe the Bible is the Word of God.

"Really, this is just a shocking comment from an elected representative in the state of California. The fact that anybody, especially someone entrusted to faithfully represent constituents, would compare historical biblical beliefs about sexuality and gender with murdering children is really despicable. It's beyond the pale – and we really call on Senator Lara to apologize for this horrible comment."

Michael Brown, conservative talk show host and author says about the bill, "If the bill passes, you must choose to obey God rather than man. It's time for civil disobedience." Brown is referring to Acts 4.19: "Whether it is right before God to obey you rather than God, you decide." Prepare for civil disobedience, Californian Christians.
