"Media" used to mean "print media" like books and newspapers, but the world has grown. Today media can also mean radio, television and movies delivered to personal computers, tablets and cell phones. As the world's best selling book of all time the Bible continues to make headlines, both good and bad, across all forms of media: The state of Washington wages abortion war against churches with the help of Planned Parenthood and NARAL, university professors prey on freshman to turn them into atheists, and America's first non-binary human makes a surprising admission: it was a sham.

Last year the state of Washington passed senate bill SB 6219 and signed by the governor Jay Inslee (D). This bill requires that all insurance plans that cover maternity care must also cover abortions. Period. No exceptions for religious institutions or otherwise. Unsurprising to most, Planned Parenthood and NARAL Pro-Choice Washington helped the state legislature draft the bill before the signing.

Cedar Park Assembly of God is a church in Kirkland, that runs a school and daycare and employs 185 people. They chose a group insurance plan that saved them over a self-insured model. According to the new state law, the church must now offer to pay for abortion procedures for their employees. When they approached the state about the issue, claiming there ought to have been a religious exemption, the state said in effect: obey or break the law. So they filed a suite and took up representation by Alliance Defending Freedom (ADF). This is likely to be overturned by the supreme court but it goes to show that we need to be pay attention to our elected representative, and not elect them again when they overstep.

While paying attention to elected officials you may also want to pay attention to college and university professors. We've heard the stories and seen the "God is Dead" movies, but hearing the testimony of Samantha Sullivan reveals how professors prey upon young students to seduce them away from God and toward atheism. As a student at the University of Texas at El Paso, she was shocked when her professor began class saying, "God is bulls**t!". In other news, back in 2013 Jamie Shupe, an army veteran, made headlines when he became a transgender woman. The presses rolled again in 2016 when he convinced an Oregon judge to allow him to classify his sex as non-gender, or "binary". He tells a story about how the medical community was all too willing to help him transition and never asking what the root reason was for his actions. The media loved his story not just locally, but globally (The Guardian brought Jamie Shupe's journey to UK readers). It is unlikely his current decision will draw as much admiration from the Press. You see, Shupe now recognizes his decisions were shaped by a "severe" mental breakdown. As he wrote in The Daily Signal:

“Two fake gender identities couldn’t hide the truth of my biological reality. There is no third gender or third sex. Like me, intersex people are either male or female. Their condition is the result of a disorder of sexual development, and they need help and compassion.”

I couldn't agree more, and hope that pastors and Christian counselors hear the message. Quality mental health practices and compassion can renew a mind for Christ. You can read his story here: https://www.dailysignal.com/2019/03/10/i-was-americas-first-non-binary-person-it-was-all-a-sham/
