"Media" used to mean "print media" like books and newspapers, but the world has grown. Today media can also mean radio, television and movies delivered to personal computers, tablets and cell phones. As the world's best selling book of all time the Bible continues to make headlines, both good and bad, across all forms of media. Australia starts a new educational program in public schools to push LGBTQ agenda, the UK is planning to pass a policy demanding all schools "actively promote" the LGBTQ agenda, and DC Comics newest superhero getting a six issue deal is... Jesus! (Kind of.)
Australia is starting the roll-out of a new sociology program called the "Respect Relationships Program to a handful of grade schools and ninth grade students to encourage kids to explore different genders and religions. Or, as the Daily Mail states it, the purpose is intended "to teach students about multiculturalism and gender fluidity." The program requires male students to wear women's clothing, and female students to wear men's clothing, and can mix it up with religious wear such as Burkas. The high school students get the added lectures about "one-night-stands," "hook-ups" and "booty-calls." It is uncertain if parents can exempt their children from the curriculum for faith-based reasons. I can understand some may argue that such a practicum violates Deuteronomy 22.5 and other commands in Scripture.
Similarly, the UK education chief is demanding all schools (including private religious schools) promote transgender lifestyles, and it has many parents generally, and the Jewish community particularly, upset. Many are questioning if the government has the right to usurp parental rights, private education, and discount religious convictions. In a 19-page letter, written by Mr, Shraga Stern's attorneys challenging the order, explains that if the program stands and becomes law millions of Jews will be forced to leave the country. Now, if only the Christian church and schools would grow as strong a backbone and help support Stern's efforts.
From the moment I first learned about the comic book series "Lucifer" from DC Comics, I knew it was only a matter of time before they released a Jesus comic. That day has come, and like the Lucifer series it is only loosely based on reality. Gone is any understanding of the Trinity. Jesus is a created being, a Messianic and Savior figure to be sure, but not equal to God. In fact, after being crucified God brought Jesus back to heaven and forbade him from returning to Earth or looking in on its development. The plot summary from DC Vertigo reads:
“Witness the return of Jesus Christ, as He is sent on a most holy mission by God to learn what it takes to be the true messiah of mankind by becoming roommates with the world's favorite savior: the all-powerful super hero Sun-Man, the Last Son of Krispex! … But when Christ returns to Earth, he's shocked to discover what has become of his gospel -- and now, he aims to set the record straight.”
One can only imagine what words the writers will put in Jesus' mouth, but I think we can assume it will be uninspired, politically-correct drivel. The comic book series is being written by Eisner Award winner Mark Russel, who is also responsible for the new comic series that remakes the clasic big cat character as a homosexual living in 1952's America.
