President Elect Donald Trump has selected six professed Christians to play a role in his inauguration. In this three-part series, we’ll tell you what we know about them.

Franklin Graham, Evangelist and son of Billy Graham, head of Billy Graham Evangelist Association

Billy Graham has served as spiritual advisor to many presidents and his son Franklin hasn’t fallen far from the tree. Though he has been more critical of politics and it’s processes than his father, he has picked his battles well and always worked for the betterment of the gospel in society. While the Graham’s believe that one can lose their salvation, Think-Biblically.com believes Franklin and the association he heads is an ethical and spiritual cornerstone of modern Christianity. We support their efforts wholeheartedly.

Because of his father’s legacy, Franklin was an obvious choice to pray at the inauguration. In that regard, Graham wrote in a press release,

"It is a privilege to be asked to take part in the inauguration of the next President of the United States. I am very thankful that prayer and reading from God's Holy Word will be a part of this important ceremony as the world watches. We need God's blessing and favor on this nation and our new president, Donald J. Trump."

Samuel Rodriguez, Evangelist in Assemblies of God church

Rodriguez is the president of the National Hispanic Christian Leadership Conference which he founded in 2000. Since then it has become the world’s largest Hispanic Christian organization in the world. As a spokesperson for Hispanic Evangelicals, Rodriguez often meets with lawmakers and provides input on policy decisions. Rodriguez has had several meetings with Trump administration officials to discuss comprehensive immigration reform, which includes both securing the border and providing a path to citizenship for current immigrants.

Like Graham, Rodriguez believes one can lose their salvation. That said, as a Pentecostal and charismatic pastor Think-Biblically.com has many more theological problems with Rodriguez and his organizations and would not recommend their teachings. This is not to say that he is not a member of the family of God, only that his organization has been known to play fast and loose with theology and to not adhere to proper biblical exegesis. Regarding his role in the inauguration he has stated,

"As a pastor, I know that faith holds our nation together and I count participating in the Inauguration of our nation's 45th president as not just a patriotic honor, but as a sacred duty, for we will stand not only before men, but before God Almighty Himself to seek His blessing and guidance. Let us begin now to pray for our new president and his administration, and imagine together a bright future for our exceptional nation."
