"Media" used to mean "print media" like books and newspapers, but the world has grown. Today media can also mean radio, television and movies delivered to personal computers, tablets and cell phones. As the world's best selling book of all time the Bible continues to make headlines, both good and bad, across all forms of media. Gallup poll shows Americans are losing their religion, former heavy metal guitarist returns to Korn to show the rockin' world the true Rock Jesus, and iPhone maker Apple removes a Christian app ministering to the LGBTQ community from their iOS store.

According to a recent Gallup poll, 72 percent of Americans consider "religion" to be important. That sounds good, but the news rolls down hill from there. Only 51 percent consider their religious faith to be "very important", a near all-time low. Furthermore, the majority of those do not believe that their religion has the answers to modern societies greatest problems. Of course this includes people of many faiths, but a good percentage are likely Christians. And while I realize the wording of the question, using the word "religion" instead of "faith" for example, lessens the impact of the report, the wording hasn't changed since it was first asked back in the 1950's when 75 percent of respondents said religion was "very important".

One man is attempting to change the tide of disbelief in his circle of influence, however. Brian Welch, former and current guitarist for the secular metal band Korn, spent his time away from the group to grow in his faith in Jesus. His return is purposeful, "There's addictions like crazy in that [heavy metal] world," explained Welch. "There's depression. It's been a lot of suicide stories happening. What better place to be, having the meaning of life that I carry? You know, I know the answer for the meaning of life." It sounds like Welch may be among the group that believes his faith has the answers our world desperately needs. In that regard, he's thinking-biblically.

Apple, the computer company, has removed a Christian ministries app from their iOS app store after an LGBTQ group named "Truth Wins Out" reported it for being "dangerous," "bigoted" and "hateful." In truth, the app helps "individuals resolve their feelings they deem incongruent with their faith,” says Ricky Chalette, executive director of Living Hope Ministries. Living Hope has been ministering for 30 years to those who struggle with same sex attraction, helping them find forgiveness and wholeness. “Regardless of their decision we will continue to make the app and our services available to those who seek them," he said.“I think it’s unfortunate that the advocacy group doesn’t know what we do and is assuming that we’re some hate organization. We are not,” Chelette said, according to NBC News. “We love gay-identified individuals.”
